Mickey Guru Travel Company
Partner with Mickey Guru Travel

So you want to be a travel advisor.

Good. This page will outline exactly what that looks like at our agency: what you will be doing, what it costs, what you can earn, and what we expect from you. There is no soft selling and no mystery here.

Mickey Guru Travel Company has been building successful businesses since 2012. We have grown slowly and intentionally, and the advisors who partner with us are here because they want to build a sustainable career, not because they are looking for a fun hobby to try. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

The reality of the business

Travel advisors earn commissions. There is no base pay and no guaranteed income because you earn what you sell. For the right person, that is not a downside; it is the entire point. You are running your own business under our umbrella, which means your income potential is entirely in your own hands. We offer a tiered commission structure, meaning the more you build your book of business, the more you take home.

What we expect and who we are

Because we invest so heavily in our training, tools, and community, we are highly protective of our team culture. We have built an agency made up of people who are genuinely helpful, kind, and supportive. We are strictly a zero drama team. We do not compete with each other; instead, we celebrate each other's wins and lift each other up.

To put it plainly, we want to invest our time in people who match our values and our drive. Advisors who are not actively building a business and booking travel do not remain on the team. This is not personal; it is a business partnership. Our support is designed for active, collaborative professionals who are ready to show up, do the work, and be a great teammate.

What working with us looks like

Kristy Ouellette founded this agency after twenty years as an educator, and that background shapes everything about how she trains and supports advisors. You will have daily access to her directly, rather than relying on a ticketing system or a Facebook group.

New advisors go through a real eight week training program. It covers ethics, sales, marketing, client care, business management, and the destinations you will be selling, with regular Zoom check-ins scheduled throughout. The goal is for you to come out of it ready to work, not just technically onboarded.

After training, ongoing education continues. Topics include marketing, relationship based sales, client experience, and time management. This is a team that holds itself to a high standard. Everyone here is genuinely invested in their own growth, and that energy is contagious. People show up for themselves and for each other.

On the business infrastructure side, you get:

  • Coverage under the agency's Errors and Omissions insurance framework
  • A professional Mickey Guru email address
  • Access to our virtual workplace platform
  • A Tern Travel CRM subscription
  • Your own personalized page hosted on mickeyguru.com
  • Custom branded business card and letterhead templates

And the supplier relationships you will be working with:

  • EarMarked by Disney status, authorizing you to sell all Disney Destinations
  • UPreferred Partner status with Universal Destinations and Experiences
  • Sandals and Beaches Resorts, Virgin Voyages, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and more

Commissions are paid twice monthly via direct deposit on a set schedule after client travel is complete.

You are already a self starter

No one here will remind you to work. You decide what kind of business you are building and you go build it.

You take client care seriously

You are not just booking trips. You are the person your clients trust with their vacation. That is a real responsibility.

You are open to learning

We have systems and processes that work. You learn them first, then bring your own ideas to the table.

You can handle pressure

Things go sideways sometimes. Flights get cancelled, reservations get dropped. You stay calm and you fix it.

You have a real network

People who know you, trust you, and will actually book with you starting day one, not someday.

You are realistic about the work

You know this takes real effort. You are not here for the travel perks because those only come after the results.

The application process

We take our screening process seriously, and we expect candidates to do the same. This collaborative approach helps us determine whether we are the right fit for each other, and that question goes both ways.

STAGE 01

Initial application

Every single application is reviewed personally by Kristy. If your background and drive align with our team culture, you will hear from us to move forward.

STAGE 02

The interview

This takes place via Zoom or in person. It is a real, transparent conversation about who you are, the business you want to build, and why you want to do this work.

STAGE 03

Skills and reference check

To ensure you are set up for success, this phase may include reference checks, a brief writing sample, or a situational assessment to see how you naturally handle real world travel scenarios.

STAGE 04

The eight week training program

If accepted, you will sign a training agreement and dive into our comprehensive onboarding. It is primarily self paced and fully online, backed by regular Zoom sessions with Kristy and experienced mentors.

Advisors joining us with prior industry experience may follow a modified, accelerated program.
STAGE 05

The official launch

Upon successful completion of the eight week training program, proving you have the drive, skills, and values our agency stands for, we will officially extend your Independent Contractor agreement. You will step out fully equipped, confident, and ready to start marketing your business and welcoming your very first client bookings with our full support behind you.

Fees and costs

Because this is an independent contractor role, you are responsible for the costs of running your business. That is an IRS requirement, which forms part of what distinguishes independent contractors from employees, and we take that distinction seriously.

There is a one time fee of $395 at the start, which covers your background check and the full eight week training program.

Once you have successfully completed the training program and are officially on the team, there is an annual agency hosting fee of $350. This fee covers your errors and omissions insurance, professional email, workplace platform access, personalized website page, branded templates, and ongoing support.

You will carry the cost of your Tern Travel CRM subscription separately, which runs $300 per year. Both fees may be prorated depending on where you land in the calendar year when you come on board. All fees are subject to change.

You are responsible for your own equipment including your computer, phone, and reliable internet. If you are serious about running a business, you likely already have those available.

The Perks of Your Partnership

When you partner with Mickey Guru Travel Company, you immediately gain access to top-tier commission tiers paid reliably and on schedule. We provide established, mature relationships with the world’s premier cruise lines, Disney destinations, Universal resorts, and luxury tour operators.

You can easily scale your portfolio based on your business goals to include premium hotel packages with global brands like Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton, alongside elite all-inclusive resorts like Sandals and Beaches. We pave the path, providing the tools and host credibility you need to thrive from your very first booking.

Advisors who reach a minimum sales threshold also become eligible for industry credentials and personal travel benefits, including reduced rates on hotels, cruises, and theme parks. The work always comes first, and the perks naturally follow your success.

Questions we get asked a lot

What destinations can I sell?

All advisors begin with training to sell Disney Destinations and Universal Destinations and Experiences. As you gain experience, you can expand your portfolio to include standalone hotel stays, premier all-inclusive resorts, major cruise lines, custom European itineraries, and group travel.

Where do clients come from?

Your personal network is your foundation: friends, family, coworkers, and people in your local community. The advisors who build sustainable, lasting businesses are the ones who lean into the relationships they already have. Social media and digital marketing are great tools to support your growth, but they will never replace real-world trust. While the agency occasionally provides leads to qualified advisors, your main business plan should focus on building your own client base.

Is this an MLM?

No. You sell travel to clients, and that is where it ends. You do not recruit other agents, you do not earn a percentage of anyone else's sales, and there is absolutely no pyramid structure here. We want to be entirely transparent because this question comes up often. The answer is simple: this is a legitimate travel sales business.

Are there any benefits?

Because this is an independent contractor role, there are no traditional corporate employee benefits. However, advisors who meet specific sales thresholds become eligible for industry memberships and valuable personal travel concessions on hotels, cruises, and theme parks. Those perks are excellent, but they are earned through your sales success, not just by joining the team.

How do I find out if I'm a good fit?

Submit an application. The process itself will tell you a lot because it asks real, thoughtful questions. If you find yourself rushing through it without much to say, that is usually a good sign that this path might not be the right match for you.

If this sounds like your kind of work, we want to hear from you.

The application is the first step. Read it carefully, answer honestly, and give us something real to work with. That is how this starts.
